God has given me a wonderful husband! I know that he is a gift from God that was part of a promise God gave me after the year of my divorce. God promised me, and in my husband gave me, so much more than I ever had before. He is my greatest blessing.
Terry isn’t always quick at speaking affirmations out loud, but with a touch or a look he is great at it. He does say, “I love you” often. He just doesn’t think to say other affirming things that often. But, he is wonderful at letting me know in other ways, and I know I am greatly blessed.
Yesterday we were on our way to our friends house to play cards. One of our friends was in the back seat and she and I were talking. My husband was holding my hand as always. We pulled up to a stop light and I was still talking. I felt him squeeze my hand and pull it in his direction. He got my attention and then pointed for me to look across him at the church sign on his left. It said, “A supportive wife is a man’s greatest possession.” Then he started stroking my hand with his thumb while he held my hand. That was “I love you and I appreciate you: said to the top of his lungs, without saying a word! A short, precious memory that will be in my mind for a long time to remind me that he sees me, he loves me and he appreciates me. In my heart, he shouted it from the mountain top!
It is sometimes the way he says something. He always says I love you when we are on the phone, but it is never just a quick, “love you.” He says it every time as if he is really trying to let me know how much; a softened voice saying, “I love you honey.” He says it when he comes down from the choir and gives me a little kiss that says, “I’m glad to be back at your side.”
God has blessed me so greatly. His son, Jesus was God’s greatest gift of all and nothing can come above him in my heart. But I know that my husband is the greatest gift God has given me here on earth. I read an article once titled, “Does your spouse see Jesus in you?” I can say, yes, I see Jesus in my husband everyday.
